Default 2012 Ninja 1000 ABS coming to a stable near me!

I'm buying a 2012 Z1000SX aka Ninja 1000 ABS. My first 4 cylinder bike! I've had nothing but singles, twins and 6 cylinder bikes, but never managed to own a 4..

What kind of fuel does Kawasaki recommend for this bike, regular, mid-grade or premium? How much octane?

Can't wait to get the new bike in black and green.

I always use the highest rated 91 don't know if thats recommended. Nice purchase, how do you like the ABS? Let us know. Welcome and have fun. Tis bike is kind of a gas hog but the engine is great.

It's winter here so I told the dealer to keep the bike till spring, although winter hasn't come at all and today it's in the low 40's.

In Canada, only the ABS model is available. I think the extra margin of safety is good to have, but that doesn't mean I will ride recklessly and expect ABS to save my butt!

The sticker on the tank says 90 octane, ROZ - RON method, I wish there was 1 friggin standard to measure octane, it's different in Europe than here. So you're saying premium fuel is required. I'll do what the manufacturer calls for.. it is a high performance engine after all. My 2 other bikes take regular fuel..

Lots of guys are running regular fuel in their Z's on this forum with no problems. But with just a 4 gallon tank and an extra 10 cents a gallon I run premium and waste the 40 cents for safety.
Welcome and congrats on the new bike.

Mine had a use premium fuel sticker on the tank but I can't remember if it was 90+ or 91+

Low 40's for temps? Go get that bad boy and go riding!

I own a 2011 Z1000 and the owner's manual states a minimum of 90 octane required.
