Default Mirrors

What do you think of the mirrors on the z1000? would you buy aftermarket and change them?

Have you tried looking on ebay? You'd be surprised what you can find there with a good enough search.

If you are looking for Bar End mirrors, CRG makes a great set. A little expensive....but made in the USA and nice. (Around $85/ea)

I have also seen some really gorgeous mirrors from Rizoma - but price is ASTRONOMICAL! $300 for a pair!

I had a 2003 - hated the mirrors. The vibes didnt help. I put CRGs on it and they worked much better.

Now I have a 2010 - and the mirrors arent as bad as the old style - they are a little more "edgy" as far as design - not just the big ole rectangles like the old style. And, they work pretty good as well. So I doubt I change them...

I had bought a pair of $300 billet aluminum mirrors from Pro-One - the quality was great, but due to the vibes on the 03, one of the mirrors actually broke off the stalk and smashed when it hit the ground! The company provided me with another free of charge - but I never used them again....they were more useless than the stock mirrors due to vibes!

I have had 2 sets (Lanesplitters) and both were very good quality. They don't vibrate much/if any, even at interstate speeds. Very sturdy, I wouldn't have gotten the 2nd set if I hadn't had an offroad "excursion".

I would say so - billet aluminum with cut "CRG" in them, glass is replaceable if you break the mirror only - and it is held in with this small screw and a rubber grommet. Vibes pose no issues that I ever encountered - they were far superior to the stock mirrors.

My ONLY complaint - bar end mirrors require that you take you eyes off the road in front of you. A couple of times I looked down and when I looked up, traffic was stopped in front of me! Thank goodness for quick reflexes!

+1 on that. Bar end mirrors look better in my opinion but that split second you take to look at them could be a very bad thing. Even worse if you're going pretty fast on the highway.
