You can buy directly from China stuff that is basically known as replicas... they are usually 3 times cheaper than real brands, but good enough for the cost of it.

I bought a windshield and mirrors for half of what they would cost here...

I bought a few contour roams 2/3s but I got them for 70-80 bucks during amazon black friday sales. I believe the roam2 is about 110 regular these days. These cameras are not motovlog quality, but for insurance/liability recording they are great. One of the lowest profile mounts out there (for helmet).

I'm using the SJ4000. They cost about $60-$70 and record in 1080p. 2 things to know :
1/they don't have a USB mic port so you can't add a wired mic if you plan on recording your voice while riding. I've seen mods on YouTube about fixing that issue.
2/they are not waterproof without the plastic housing. I take mine off when it starts raining. (see pic)

I also heard real good thing about ThiEYE i60 also under $100 and 4K for under $200.

Go pros are def overrated. Their editing software is very user friendly but that's about it. Last thing u want is lose a $400 camera on the highway.

I use a drift HD in 1080p/30fps and it seems to be pretty good. Can't really read license plates unless close up, however.
