are super sports fun to ride in town, i doubt they are much fun unless you are riding fast. our Zeds are fun all the time. so if you are stuck in town or mostly traffic is a super sport still a fun bike to ride. i say NO. the riding position on most SUCK big time. just because you can ride one without going to the doctor does not mean they are comfortable. i guess i just want super sport riders to say yes the riding position SUCKS but my EGO needs boosting everytime i ride so that is why i own one .
The riding position on my ZX6R was the reason that it is now a track only bike
The Z-1000 is definitely a more comfortable bike to ride
4hrs on the ZX I need pain killers and a hot tub to soak in
4hrs on the Z and I'm ready for another 4

I feel the need, the need for speed,
cause you never see a sport bike

I think that it is really based on the bike. I attended the bike show here in NY and had the opportunity to sit on many SS bikes (note that I could not ride any).
What struck me is the variation of the ergos depending on the manufacturer and Admittedly, all had more aggressive ergos than the Z1K or N1K. However, the ZX-14 and Hayabusa ergos were closer to sport tourer than a true SS, while the ZX-10R and Yamaha R1 (and of course those showy, poseur Ducatis) made me question how anyone could chose them as an everyday rider. The BMW, Gixxer and Honda felt somewhere in between.
Scientific, absolutely not. However, having the opportunity to move directly from bike to bike provided a better sense of the riding positions of each bike.
i have seat time on my friends busa and zx14. maybe they are better than a SS but not much. after 10 miles i want off. with pegs moved farther back and the bars that low it sucks. now his B KING is great killer power and a street riding position.
During a vacation in Pennsylvania, I had a very good friend allow me to ride his GSXR750, while a friend of his allowed him to borrow his GSXR750. This way we both had sports-bikes to ride while I was up North in the summer. We rode for practically the entire weekend. I must say, I was impressed with the comfort level of the GSXR, sincerely mean that. We didn't ride very much in town, since the area he lives in is rural New York state, near Port Jervis. I have to say, I can not agree with you on how uncomfortable a sportbike rides.
I must say, the most uncomfortable motorcycle I have ever ridden for any length of time was my last bike...a Kawasaki 900 Vulcan Custom. My back was hurting after the first 30 minutes. I knew I made a mistake after the first week of ownership.
To think they referred to that style of bike as a "Cruiser" is just plain insane. I would definitely choose a pure sport-bike over any cruiser-bike any day of the week if the issue was comfort. Riding a cruiser for me is literally a pain in my butt & back! However, I do agree my gen-3 Z1000 is one of the most comforable bikes I've owned.
I agree with Hammer, it could be age related since I am only 54 years old.
a couple months ago, a coworker traded bikes with me for a day. he has a 98 gsxr 750. it wasnt as uncomfortable as i thought it would be but after an hour of riding i would have to stop for 20 minutes. i was really surprised that it wasnt any faster than mine but the handling was alot smoother at higher speeds threw the curves. i would be in heaven if my bike had 170 rwhp. i would almost give up a little comfort for 30 or 40 more hp.

I can honestly say that I have no idea what I would do with 30-40 more hp.
I estimate that I already have 20 or so (or more) that I am not capable of finding.
well its not like i really need it or coulds even use it, especially on the street. 3rd gear power wheelies & arm stretching acceleration would be nice though.

i think it comes down to each body is different. i am 6-1 and a small built 205 lbs. i have long arms and legs. many here complain about the stock seat. for my body the stock seat is fine up to 100 miles. i had a 05 honda CBR 600 rr for a weekend a few years back and the thing killed my neck. to see forward i had to hold my neck at a very bad angle to see forward laying down as i was. the pressure on the wrists were real bad. maybe a guy 5-6 would be ok ??????
